Welcome to Nebraska!

Yesterday we hit the road and headed to Nebraska for a fundraiser! We left around 11 and stopped for some lunch halfway. Brayden was a rockstar as usual with very little fussing and lots of smiles. We got checked into our hotel around 430 and Brayden rode up to his room on the luggage rack. He then proceeded to walk the halls until it was time to get cleaned up and head over to Bushwackers.

When we arrived Brayden got the chance to meet a real bull fighter named Target and his live bull named "big black". Both of them were very kind and posed for pictures with Brayden! Later in the evening we learned that Target is going to make this an annual event for Brayden and other children/families going through similar journeys! We are so grateful Target's support!

After meeting target and all of the other people who helped get this event together Brayden had some dinner......

And then it was back to the fun! He danced on the dance floor and for the first time in a while I found myself tearful while interacting with my little hero. It wasn't my finest moment, but it is what it is.

Brayden was laughing and hamming it up on the dance floor and then the emotion just hit me. As I looked around the room you could not deny that Brayden has a significant amount of people rooting for him in Omaha and that's amazing! Knowing that so many people are following him is also a reminder of the journey that we are on, and while I have accepted Brayden's diagnosis and what that means for our future, it can still get the best of me at times emotionally.

Bushwackers was very generous in hosting this fundraiser and we are so appreciative of their support. Bret's mom was in charge of getting this event organized which was nice because all we had to do was show up with Brayden! There was delicious food, line dancing lessons, and awesome live music by 4 different artists, all of which donated their evening to Brayden! It really is amazing to me how many people came to show Brayden love!

Thanks to Nathan Wade,

He's such a cutie pie!!!

and to Mitch Goudy.......

The artists were all amazing and they were very kind for performing last night for Brayden!
Brayden made some more laps around the bar during the first couple music sets, but at 930 he just couldn't keep his eyes open any longer so he went back to the hotel with maw maw and paw paw for a strawberry shake and his bath.

This morning we got up and went to breakfast before we started the drive home and Brayden was all smiles as usual.....

Thanks to everyone who helped make last nights event a success with a special shout out to Bret's mom Donna, Don, Nancy, Charlene, Pauline, Marilyn, Charlie, Tom, and Clairese!!!!
